Does "keep it practical" mean my proposal on a theoretical topic will not be accepted?

No, even if a session proposal is focused on a theoretical topic, it can still be practical by providing the attendees with practical strategies or techniques they can apply in their teaching practice.

For example, a session on the "Theory of Multiple Intelligences" could be action-oriented by providing attendees with practical ways to differentiate instruction and assessment to better support the diverse learning needs of their students. The session could also include hands-on activities that allow participants to experience different learning styles.

Another way to make a theoretical topic practical is to focus on its real-world applications. For example, a session on "Social-Emotional Learning Theory" could be action-oriented by providing participants with specific strategies and resources for developing social-emotional learning in their classrooms. The session could also include examples of how other teachers have successfully implemented social-emotional learning strategies in their classrooms.

Do you have any examples of session descriptions that I could follow that meet the requirements?

Here are two examples:

Maximizing Student Learning: Effective Strategies for Formative Assessment

Attendees will learn about effective strategies for formative assessment and how to use them to maximize student learning. Participants will also learn how to use data collected from formative assessment to adjust instruction and support student learning. The session will be interactive, with opportunities for participants to engage in activities and exercises, including small group discussions and practicing implementing different strategies. Participants will develop a personal plan for using formative assessment to enhance student learning and achievement.
