Dr. Sergio Cepero Espinosa is an Associate Professor of Leadership in the M.A. Leadership program at Trinity Western University, Canada. Born and raised in Spain, in his early career years, he enjoyed an Erasmus Grant from the EU at Bradford College, England, doing studies related to his Master's in Educational Psychology.
His doctoral dissertation was the first one in Spain on the topic of street children in Ceuta, Spain. This allowed him to enjoy a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Earth Institute, Columbia University, New York (2006-2008) where he joined the U.N. Millennium Villages Project doing research about orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) in twelve countries of Sub-Saharan Africa. Sergio's research interests include multidimensional poverty, particularly street children and homeless youth, poverty and indigenous (minority) children, violence prevention, and diversity. He has also travelled to Morocco and Ukraine in order to know more about the street children phenomenon.
From 2011 until 2019, he was an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology, Research Methods and Vice Dean of Practicum and Teaching Innovation at the University of Granada, Spain (2017-2019). He has gained experience as a leader in the Canadian educational sector by being the Principal of Rimbey Christian School in Alberta (2019-2020) and Assistant Principal at Langley Christian Elementary School in British Columbia (2020-2021).
