This will be a detailed look at how, using the topic of shoes as a backbone, I was able to integrate most of my curricular goals across Math, Social Studies, Language Arts, Art, and ADST. Student work has been displayed in a variety of settings including Surrey Christian's Celebration of Learning evenings. The purpose here will be to help give insight and hopefully guide conversation and give brainstorming time for teachers to potentially do something similar in their own contexts. Learning targets for this session will include: I can begin to think about creating an integrated unit around one central theme. I can begin to think about how to genuinely "hook" my students and pique their curiosity about things they may overlook. I can begin to think about what it looks like to tailor certain pieces of an integrated unit to the interests of my students. I can find a theme that I, as a teacher, am also passionate about to help energize the unit.
