Name
ADST Student-Lead Project-Based Learning
Description

What happens when you let the monkeys run the zoo? Awesome, engaged student participation and deep life-long learning. I will explore and explain how I have developed my ADST curriculum to include large multi-discipline projects that are done both in the school and outside the school to benefit God's Kingdom. It is amazing what creative projects students come up with when we allow them to drive their own learning experiences. Combining ADST with local short-term missions creates the essence of Christian education. Learning targets for this session include: Understanding how to present project based learning to administration, overcoming common barriers such as “where to start,” and finding “spaces to work,” as well as finding “allies to help.” Teachers have always been taught in education to create lessons plans and unit plans. Another learning target will be how to be comfortable to “fly without a safety net” while still using the BC curriculum but working without lesson and unit plans. “You must unlearn what you have learned” – Master Yoda.
