Students don't readily read poetry but they will watch movies without a prompter. In this session, we will look at meaningful ways to merge cinema and poetry into your next poetry unit. We will also explore ways to have students comprehend poetry by creating their own questions to derive meaning. Lastly, we will look at the medium of spoken word poetry to hook students into this timeless art and discuss how several core and curricular competencies are met in these projects.
