Description

The past few months, we have been challenged by many events that have broken our hearts and challenged our thinking – COVID-19, Black Lives Matter & BIPOC, racism etc... Many of us are understandably wondering how we respond, as Christians, in our classrooms. In this session, we will briefly explore our own cultural frames of reference and anticipate the cultural diversity in our classrooms. Set within a culture of positive relationships we will review teaching strategies that you can try immediately in your classroom that promote equity and reciprocity in your classroom: cognitive routines and tools such as instructional conversations, use of story and metaphors, non-linguistic representations of content, games, fun and humour. Come prepared to look inward at your cultural lens and then plan outward to teach with an inclusive lens.
